A Massive First Day! Thredbo Is Now Open For Mountain Biking & Hiking

Posted on 18 Nov, 2023 in Activities

Thredbo MTB Park officially reopened on Saturday with a huge number of riders turning out to kick off the 2023/24 season.

A testament to the huge turnout, Saturday was our biggest season pass day ever with a record number of season pass holders coming out to ride.

It was also the first time in history that we have been able to open nearly every trail on an opening day. With so much downhill terrain on offer, all four MTB lifts spinning and incredible weather, the vibes were at an all-time high!

The opening weekend celebrations meant riders enjoyed live music, a free premiere MTB movie screening and the chance to win a stack of prizes.

Our massive team of MTB ambassadors were ripping the trails all weekend including Jack Moir, Sian A’Hern, Kye A’Hern, Tim Eaton, Jackson Frew, Jackson Connelly, Tom Crimmins, Tegan Molloy and Maddy Lloyd.

The ambassador crew tested out the trails on Friday and then shredded the first laps of the season with all of our guests on Saturday.

To celebrate opening day, the ambassadors hosted a massive giveaway on the mountain, hiding a huge stack of prizes around the trails for riders to find. The hero prize was a limited edition gold can of Monster Energy, with the hero prize being a ride session on Sunday with Jack Moir.

The lucky winner who found the gold can and got to shred some laps with Jack on Sunday afternoon was 13 year old Indy Butcher.

In addition to the mountain bike action, the lifts were also spinning all weekend for scenic passengers. Hikers enjoyed a scenic ride on the Kosciuszko Chairlift before embarking on adventures to Australia’s highest point and beyond.

It’s shaping up to be a cracking summer season! To find out more and plan your visit, please click here.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
